Justin Dorman Customer Complaint

Justin Dorman has been the subject of at least one customer complaint that we know about, which was filed in the last year to recover investment losses. The allegations made in the FINRA reported customer complaint for investment losses were In a written complaint received by the Firm on April 3, 2020, addressed to Bankers Life and Casualty Company (BLC), an insurance company affiliate of the Firm, [REDACTED] and [REDACTED] alleged that, in March 2020, their registered representative recommended they surrender a variable annuity and purchase a Guaranteed Lifetime Indexed Annuity (GLIA) issued and sold by BLC. [REDACTED] and [REDACTED] stated that the registered representative told them the surrender value of their annuity would be locked, but that there was a delay of six days from dated the annuity application form was signed to when the GLIA was funded resulting in the value of the transfer to decline by $15,000. BLC denied [REDACTED] and [REDACTED] complaint finding that the GLIA was suitable as it provided protection of principal and security, and also provided growth and future income, consistent with [REDACTED] and [REDACTED] financial goals. BLC also determined that had the transfer not been processed [REDACTED] and [REDACTED] the value of their variable annuity would have declined even further due to the volatility of the market. While the GLIA sold to [REDACTED] and [REDACTED] was not a security and was issued by BLC, the firm is reporting this complaint because the source of funding for the BLC annuity came from the sale of securities recommended by a registered representative of the firm. Justin Dorman’s customer complaint was denied and, to date, the customer has not taken any further action.
